Does my child need to have a diagnosis of ODD, ADHD, Autism, etc. for the program to be relevant to my unique situation?

The research-informed best practices I coach you to use are not specific to any particular diagnosis. In fact, I teach effective behavior change strategies that work with almost all human brains and even some of our pets. These parenting practices will be effective with essentially all children, and in particular, have been found to be successful for children with highly challenging behaviors including opposition, defiance, aggression, etc. Neurodivergent kids and adults can thrive with the use of these proven practices because they are predictable, consistent, and are based on behavior theory.

How does this program compare to Parent Management Training or Parent Behavior Training?

As a certified Kazdin Method® Parent Management Training (KPMT) behavior specialist, I utilize the effective practices that have been proven effective for highly oppositional and defiant children. I also incorporate Dr. Russell Barkley's practices as well as strategies that have been proven to be effective for children diagnosed with ADHD and other neurodivergent children, as well as for teenagers exhibiting defiance. This program utilizes group coaching, group support, and asynchronous learning to accelerate and enhance the 1:1 PMT experience. In my experience, the need for a community of support and more flexible learning options is in high demand and cannot be met through 1:1 coaching alone.

What is the weekly time commitment for the program?

If parenting children is one of the hardest jobs in the world, then parenting children with challenging behaviors and high levels of needs is the HARDEST! You cannot make changes to how you more effectively prompt for behaviors and respond to behaviors with a magic wand. Behavior change does not happen over night, or in a vacuum. Most families will see positive changes to behaviors when they dedicate 2-5 hours per week to the program. I recommend that you engage in at least one weekly live coaching call per week and complete one learning module per week. You will also have access to monthly webinars and bonus content. The more that you can dedicate time with your coparenting partners and caregivers to align with the practices and create consistency, the better. The program is set up to support your unique, busy, and stressful life as a parent and family navigating the world of challenging behaviors. Access to the recorded replays and webinars, asynchronous learning modules, and "The Village" community app is available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.

How can I get started? What are the first steps?

After enrolling in the program, you will have immediate access to the first month of modules. These modules will set you up for success by helping you determine a schedule for completing the learning activities and attending the live coaching sessions. You will also become acclimated with the app and how to access "The Village" community of support. You will collect some baseline data to help you measure success of the program each month.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Behavior change takes time and energy. The work that you put into the program will pay off in the end! I have created a 8 month and 12 month programs because I know that families need this amount of support in order to experience lasting success. While there is not a guarantee that you will have success, I will work with you throughout the program to ensure that you are overcoming challenges and creating lasting behavior changes. If you begin the program and find it is not the right fit, you can get a full refund within 2 weeks of enrollment. After that time, there is a no refund policy nor a money-back guarantee.

Can I schedule a 1:1 coaching session?

The 1:1 Flexible Video Coaching Upgrade is available to a limited number of clients. There is not an option to schedule a 1:1 video live session with Jill alone. The live group coaching provided individualized support and "The Village" community app is a place to get individualized advice and coaching from Jill as well as suggestions and support from other clients in the program.

What if I don't complete all of the learning modules in the time provided for the program?

The learning modules for the Foundations Program will end at the time the program is completed after 8 months. The Advanced Program option includes an additional 3 months of access to the learning modules so that you can refine and reboot the program on your own after the 12 months of access to "The Village"community and coaching sessions expire. Recorded sessions and replays will expire at the end of the 12 month enrollment period as well.

I need to pause the program? Can I stop and start where I left off?

No, clients are not able to stop and start the program. The program will be completed at the end of the 8 months or 12 months, with the exception of the 3 month bonus access to learning modules if you purchase the Advanced Program.

What is the research base of the program?

As a Kazdin Method® Parent Management Training behavior specialist, I will share much of the research for that program, along with Dr. Russell Barkley's research on changing the behavior of defiant children and teens. One of the bonus modules of the program includes an ongoing is list of both resources and research that I use to support the development of the program.

Will the program address behavior challenges that my child is having at both home and school?

Yes, the program will address behavior challenges in many settings. However, we always begin in the home setting with the parents and primary caregivers using the practices first. We then expand the practices to other environments and with other caregivers, providers, and teachers. The Advanced Program specifically features support with childcare, preschools, and K-12 private and public schools including IEP/504 Plans and meetings.

Does my child need to be on medication for me to enroll in the program?

Medication is not required for program enrollment. While medication can often be an effective tool in supporting behavior changes in children, it has also been found in recent research that beginning Parent Behavior training BEFORE a child is on medication can lead to lower dosage requirements and shorter longevity of medication treatment overall. Jill is not a therapist, psychology, or a medical doctor and is not able to give medical or medication advice. However, the Advanced Program will help prepare families for visits to medical providers and mental health specialists including questions to ask about medication and ways to collect behavior data pre, during, and post medication trials or changes.
